Matt Gould owns the Dairy & Food Market Analyst, Inc. based in Western New York and authors the Dairy Market Analyst weekly report.

Matt grew up on a dairy farm that is now in its third generation of family ownership. He has expertise in dairy markets, milk pricing, risk management, and financial analysis, and has relationships with managers throughout all parts of the dairy supply chain. As a dairy industry insider, he’s experienced the frustration caused by structural changes in the industry where once-reliable rules of thumb suddenly no longer apply, and he’s seen firsthand the vulnerability caused by having too little, or too old, information. In his 5+ years as Editor & Analyst of the DMA, Matt has worked directly with leading dairy companies and has been featured as an expert source in national media including Bloomberg, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Progressive Dairyman. He holds a B.S. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Matt has spoken about dairy topics at industry events in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and South Korea. (See here for a list of recent presentations.) Matt has also been cited in international publications covering dairy including in BBC News, Bloomberg, the New York Times, Time Magazine, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. See here for a list of latest news clippings.

Matt is a frequent contributor on Lee Mielke’s Dairy Radio Now and writes in industry publications including Hoards Dairyman and Progressive Dairyman. He is also contracted to serve as the Chief Market Analyst at Rice Dairy LLC.

In his free time, Matt and his wife Melanie are active in their local Catholic community. They frequently travel around Upstate New York and South Florida to spend time with their family.
